TACK YOUR STACK BEFORE YOU WHACK!
Similar tools have been used for some time for basting quilts. This new model uses micro needles, and the smaller plastic tacks are short enough to hold stacks together securely.Tacked stacks tend to lay flatter, and can be handled and stored more easily than pinned stacks with less chance of layers slipping. To use the fabric tacks, align the layers as you would with a pin, sliding the needle of the tacking tool through the matching points. When all layers are aligned, pull the release trigger on the tool to attach the tack. Tacks may be removed easily by holding a few layers in each hand and tugging gently. The Avery Dennison MicroStitchTM tool is $31.95 and comes with a generous supply of 4.4 mm tacks in both black and white (1200 tacks total). Refills are available in both 4.4 mm and 3.4 mm sizes. Either size will work for most projects, but the 3.4 mm size will hold thinner stacks (4-7 layers) more tightly. 4.4 mm tacks come in refill packs with 600 black and 600 white tacks. 3.4 mm refills come with 1200 creamy white tacks. Our price is $9.95 for either size. Order the MicroStitchTM Tool and Refills on our Online Order Form. |
